This hoodie is for children between 2 and 11 years old. It really is simple but it has an interesting piping detail to front and back and a pocket in the middle.

Print on A4 paper. Start with the first page and make sure the test box is 5 x 5 cm.
You can try printing on different paper format but always select printing to 100%. Let me know if you have any issues of you want to print on a different size of paper, Iโ€™ll see what I can do!

Always try to make a toile before cutting through your favourite fabric

How to join your pattern pages together:

If youโ€™re not sure which size to choose, check the measurements chart https://moonlightpatterns.com/measurements-charts/

Recommended fabrics:

French Terry or other thicker knit fabric for main pieces, jersey can be used for lining your hoodie and I also used it for piping, ribbing for cuffs.

NO SEAM ALLOWANCES ADDED.

Cutting:

Centre Front x1 on fold
Front sides x2 mirrored pair
Centre Back x1 on fold
Back sides x2 mirrored pair
Hood x4 two mirrored pairs (you can cut 2x from the jersey for lining)
Sleeves x2
Pocket x1
Cuffs for sleeves and bottom of hoodie

Fabric requirements:

Fabric width: 160cm (numbers below will change if you use a different width fabric).
sizes 12 months-4 years 1.1-1.3m of fabric
sizes 5 years-10 years 1.3-1.5m of fabric
Jersey strips for piping

For cuffs simply cut ribbing 10-15% shorter than sleeves and bottom edge. My cuffs are 4cm wide so use 8cm wide strips as they’re folded.

TIP: If you have any doubts simply add your seam allowances, cut out all the pieces and lay them on your fabric!

Instructions (of course this is my preferred method, you can do it differently):

1. Add seam allowances, don’t forget to square seam allowances and cut the pattern. Cut your fabric. Press with an iron after each step.

2. Start with assembling front and back pieces. Piping is really a folded strip of jersey sewn between two pieces of French terry fabric. To make it really flat I used starch spray. You can make your own and treat with it knit fabrics that tend to roll. Once stitched together, topstitch.

3. Prepare your pocket. Overlock edges (apart from the bottom one). Then fold all edges apart from the bottom one, press and topstitch the hand opening edges. You can then stitch your pocket to the front. Stitch close to the edge of the pocket.

4. Stitch front and back with right sides together. Attach your sleeves and after that stitch hoodie along the side seam in one go.

5. Stitch hood together. I used contrasting lining. Start with hood seams and after that stitch lining with main hood together. Topstitch the edge. At the bottom baste stitch overlaping edges in place.

6. You can now attach hoodie to the main body.

7. Optional: add a strip of thin jersey to cover the back seam. I will be showing this in a separate post soon but if you need it RIGHT NOW just ask on the facebook group. I’m happy to help ๐Ÿ™‚

8. Prepare cuffs. mine are approx 10-15% shorter than sleeves and bottom edge. Stitch the short edges of cuffs together. Fold cuff over lengthwise and press. I always clip my seam in the middle to reduce bulk. Then stretch and attach these to your hoodie. Be careful at the bottom as you’ll be sewing through multiple layers of fabric.

9. Ta da ๐Ÿ™‚
